    Heartstrings (Dementia) Support Group Day: August 22, 2017 Time: 03:00 PM-04:30 PM

    Peter Becker Community, a senior living community in Harleysville, PA is hosting the Heartstrings Support Group to help people with a loved one affected by dementia.

    The program is free and open to Alzheimer’s/dementia caregivers in the community. Loved ones affected by Alzheimer’s are also welcome to attend.

    Lunch & Learn – September Day: September 14, 2017 Time: 10:30 AM-12:30 PM

    Find out about campus life, visit our homes, and enjoy a lovely lunch as you meet and talk with the people who live here. Lunch & Learns are casual and tailored to those who want to learn more about Peter Becker Community. There’s never any pressure to do anything more than talk about the possibilities of you someday moving to the community. Find out about our new upgrade packages too. Seating is limited so reservations are required. Please call Milissa Cwenar at 215-703-4014 to let us know you will be joining us.     Health & Wellness Fair Day: September 15, 2017 Time: 10:00 AM-02:00 PM

    This educational and interactive event is designed to keep you in touch with your health. A variety of vendors and exhibitors will provide screenings, tips and information on different aspects of health, wellness, fitness and lifestyle improvements. Cooking demonstrations, sample services and seminars will have you feeling good about feeling good.

    SESSION ONE:

    The Healthcare Labyrinth:
    Navigating the Myriad Medical Choices in a Health Crisis

    This is the first of three in our Fall Education Series.  Please join us at one or all of these informative workshop style presentations designed to give you and your family members the tools to effectively navigate some of the toughest life decisions. There is no charge to attend.

    The first session will walk you through circumstances you might face in a health crisis and help you understand rehabilitation choices, supplemental insurance, how to be prepare for a doctor consultation and more.

    Topics to be discussed:

    • Walking through a Crisis; how would the hospitalization and insurance help you recover
    • Rehabilitation at the hospital or in another setting or at your home
    • Supplemental services for recovery at home; insurance limitations, privately pay options, long term care insurance review
    • Doctor consultation preparation; have you asked about side effects of treatment, surgery, new medications?
    • How to use the crisis as a starting point for difficult discussions

    Kate Roberts, MSW, LSW, is the Director of Support Services at Peter Becker Community.

    I have been a social work for almost 20 years and have spent the last decade specifically working with older adults. I have spoken privately and publically on a wide range of topics from insurance, depression, anxiety and crisis implications on behalf of PBC and look forward to sharing some of that knowledge and experience with folks outside our community.

    18th Annual Golf Outing at Indian Valley Country Club Day: October 2, 2017 Time: 11:00 AM-06:00 PM

    Tee off with friends, enter competitions and don’t miss the great giveaways and door prizes! This outing is more than a wonderful day of golf with colleagues, friends and family members. It is also about supporting the community’s benevolent fund. This year we are back at Indian Valley Country Club in Telford.
